What our press installation includes
Our press installation service is for card, packaging and finishing businesses that need a press fitted, levelled and ready for production. We work on single units and multiple machine installs in workshops, factories and smaller print rooms across Johannesburg and nationwide. Every install is planned around the machine size, floor space, power supply and the type of foil work you do.
Before we leave site, we confirm the press is sitting square, the heating system is stable, the pressure is set correctly and the die area is aligned for repeatable stamping. That matters because poor setup can cause uneven foil transfer, wasted material and unnecessary wear on heaters, guides and plates.
- Machine positioning and levelling
- Electrical and heater connection checks
- Heat-up verification and temperature reading
- Pressure setting and test impression checks
- Die mounting and alignment support
- Foil feed path inspection
- Operator handover and basic run-through
How the installation process works
We keep the process practical and clear. First we confirm the machine model, footprint, voltage requirements and the intended production use. If the site is in a busy industrial area like Industria West, Germiston or Midrand, we also plan around access, loading and shutdown windows so the machine can be installed without disrupting other work.
On the day, our technical team positions the press, checks the floor level and confirms the unit is stable. We then test the heater calibration, check the pressure application and run sample impressions using your own material where possible. That gives us a proper read on foil adhesion, registration and release before the press is signed off.
- Site check and install planning
- Delivery placement and unpacking
- Levelling, power and safety checks
- Heat, pressure and alignment setup
- Trial runs with sample stock and foil
- Operator sign-off and handover notes
Press specifications we work with
We install a range of hot-foil stamping presses used for paperboard, carton work, labels and short-run packaging. Whether the machine is compact for a craft business or larger for daily production, the same basic install standards apply: correct temperature control, even pressure, accurate registration and a clean feed path. If a machine is going into a humid coastal environment or a workshop with variable power, we pay extra attention to heater stability and electrical protection.
Typical setup checks include platen surface condition, platen travel, dwell time, foil tracking and guide adjustment. Where needed, we also help with die mounting height and pressure balancing so the finish is consistent across the full sheet or carton.
- Heat range suitable for foil work on board, paper and packaging stock
- Pressure setup matched to stock thickness and die area
- Alignment checked for clean positioning and repeat runs
- Electrical compatibility confirmed before commissioning
- Installation suitable for small workshop or production floor use
- Support for single-colour and multi-pass foil applications
Turnaround, planning and site support
Most installations can be scheduled within a practical lead time once the machine details and site access are confirmed. Simple installs move faster, while larger machines, site moves or extra setup work may need more planning. If your operation depends on tight dispatch windows, we can schedule after-hours or early-day work where possible, especially for businesses in Sandton, Roodepoort, Randburg and the western industrial belt.
Our aim is to reduce downtime and get the press working properly before production starts. If there are power limitations, floor issues or ventilation concerns, we flag them early so you can sort them before the install date rather than losing time on site.
- Installation timing confirmed after machine and site review
- Support available for new setups and replacement presses
- Site issues identified before handover where possible
- Training and commissioning usually done in the same visit
Pricing approach and what affects the cost
We quote based on the machine type, the complexity of the install, travel distance and any extra commissioning work needed. A straightforward local installation in Johannesburg City West will cost differently from a site that needs extended alignment work, multiple presses or added setup checks. If spare parts, heater repairs or die adjustments are required during the visit, we price those separately and explain them clearly first.
There are no hidden extras for basic handover. You get a clear breakdown for labour, travel and any optional work such as operator training, pressure correction or minor adjustments. For businesses that install more than one unit, we can quote the job as a project so the costs are easier to manage.
- Quoted per machine or per install project
- Travel and labour separated from parts
- Optional extras priced before work continues
- Bulk or multi-machine installs can be costed together
Keeping the press in good working order after install
A good installation should be followed by regular care. We recommend a check after the first production run, then a preventative servicing interval based on usage. For many busy shops that means a service every 3 to 6 months, while lighter users may only need seasonal checks. If your workshop runs through hot months, load-shedding interruptions or long production shifts, heater calibration and pressure checks should be done more often.
During maintenance we look at temperature stability, pressure consistency, die seating, feed wear and general machine condition. That helps prevent common issues like patchy foil transfer, misregistration and uneven impression depth. It also protects the machine investment and keeps waste down.
- First follow-up after initial production run
- Routine servicing every 3 to 6 months for active sites
- Extra checks after electrical interruptions or relocation
- Calibration and pressure review before peak production periods
